Before that, however, you can start getting to know her by reading on below.

Why did you become a dentist?

Every person’s dental needs and goals are unique. That’s why our team Dr. Shevchenko has always loved to see people smile, and she believes that someone’s smile is one of their biggest assets in both their personal and professional life. She decided early on that she wanted to be in healthcare and be able to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, so this all made dentistry the perfect fit. Over the years, she has also developed a passion for educating patients so they can know the best ways to maintain their oral health.

Where did you study dentistry?

Dr. Shevchenko’s advanced expertise and passion for further training enable Dr. Shevchenko received her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the prestigious Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2009. Prior to this, she completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery in India in 2003. Dr. Shevchenko is currently a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), New Hampshire Dental Society (NHDS), Massachusetts Dental Society (MDS), International Dental Implant Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD).

Dr. Shevchenko is very passionate about constantly advancing her skills. She enjoys attending continuing education courses on a regular basis and takes several every year. For instance, she has completed over 100 hours of advanced training on dental implants, which included hands-on learning. She is also a long-term member of Spear Education, which enables her to remain up-to-date on the latest technologies, techniques, and materials in the oral healthcare field. As a result, she is able to pass on better, more advanced care to her valued patients.

What do you like to do outside of dentistry?

When not at the office, Dr. Shevchenko enjoys spending time with her husband and their daughter, participating in outdoor activities, and traveling. You’ll also find her at the beach most weekends when the weather is nice! She looks forward to meeting you soon and providing your entire family with the best dentistry has to offer in a comfortable and friendly environment.

I was drawn to dentistry from a young age, inspired by my father, who is a veterinarian, and a close family friend who is a surgeon. My interest in the medical field, particularly surgery, led me to pursue a career in dentistry, where I found my passion in contributing to people's smiles.

At my practice, we offer a comprehensive range of dental services. This includes preventative care such as routine exams, checkups, and cleanings, as well as restorative procedures like fillings, crown and bridge work, dentures, implants, and teeth whitening. We also specialize in cosmetic dentistry for those looking to completely transform their smile, which is an aspect of my job that I particularly enjoy.

One of the key advantages of operating a family practice, in contrast to a corporate chain, is the opportunity to build personal connections with my patients. My team and I are dedicated to helping each patient achieve optimal dental health, which in turn, allows them to live happier lives.

My team is one of the most important elements of our practice. Together, we strive to improve our services and provide the best possible care for our patients. Effective communication with our patients is a priority, ensuring they feel at ease and comfortable during their visits.

We understand that many people have fears and anxieties about visiting the dentist. To alleviate these concerns, we offer a safe and comfortable environment and employ various strategies to help our patients relax. This includes meeting with me or a hygienist before treatment and utilizing techniques such as music and noise-canceling headphones.

The connection between oral health and overall health cannot be overstated. Research has shown that poor oral health can impact systemic conditions like diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's disease. By maintaining good oral hygiene, we can help reduce the severity of these conditions or even prevent them.

There are several indicators that suggest it's time to visit a dentist, such as bleeding or swollen gums, dry mouth, darkness around the gum line, swelling around the face, or low energy. These symptoms could be signs of periodontal disease, which can have a significant impact on your overall health.
